What we learnt from two months of focus on storytelling.

"Thank you so much for this informative and fun session! Definitely inspired to make our online modules catchier and more effective."

We got many enthusiastic responses to our webinars on storytelling. Here are our learnings from a few months’ focus on storytelling:

1. Find the story in your content.

Every time we mention this, we find that it helps L&D professionals. It is our drive in projects, but of course anyone can work with this. It’s a crucial perspective for the concepting phase of your project.

2. Storytelling is not just fierce fiction.

True stories can be just as powerful. Which is the best choice? For that, at least look closely at your target audience. Because storytelling is what you use to connect. Your story should reduce the distance.

3. Small stories have big impact.

A big and compelling story is not always the solution. Use small stories in combination with your teaching material.

Compact practical examples, for example, in which everyone can identify. Or combine small stories into a larger storyline. Your objectives determine your storytelling.

4. Make the story bigger than your learning intervention.

Don’t just let the story begin when people start the module, but let it be embedded in “the big picture”. Tune your course invitations to it, put in teaser videos or other promotional material. And get to work in your LMS, bringing stories together and creating learning channels with a Disney+ feel.
